A Grandmother’s Sorrow

History does repeat itself. As we are reeling from the slaughter at the Pittsburgh synagogue, our mind goes back 8 years ago. In 2010, a man entered a coffee shop on the Wesleyan University and shouted, “Kill the Jews!” Immediately, Renate’s granddaughter was gunned down. That sorrow and shock still live on today.

Justin writes about this incident and its effect in her memoir, What I HAVE to Tell.

We long for hope, hope that tolerance, humility, and life will surmount the despair of death prejudice and destruction throughout the world.” –Johanna

May the last words of the victim surpass and outlast those of the killer.
